Soemtimes even those popups that quickly flash on the screen but don't load and others that sit in a tiny window in the bottom of a screen. Pop-ups happen on even regular sites and they tend to go to really disreputable looking sites, illegal games, etc. I feel like that might be where this problem is coming from. I've accessed mediafire and other such sites for sharing image artwork (I work in design) and though I use ublock to block ads, sometimes the only way to get the file I need from someone is by disabling it.
